“My career at Listen has always been rooted in sales, though I’m a bit of a tech nerd at heart. I’ve been a regional sales manager for the East Coast for nearly a decade. But I genuinely love the relationships between this job and the industry. We’re in a relationship-driven business, and it’s incredible to collaborate with friends and peers every day. At Listen, I get to do what I love—talking to people and providing solutions that make a difference. We’re not just selling AV systems; we’re giving people the ability to hear.
Whether presenting virtually, attending a tradeshow, reviewing architectural drawings, or literally crawling into duct spaces, I’m working with people I know and trust. It’s a joy to build something meaningful together. I also believe that I don’t shine unless the people I work with shine, too, and that collaboration will always keep me engaged and passionate about my work.”
What do you like best about working at Listen Technologies?
“As an organization, Listen is committed to increasing accessibility and fostering inclusion. We’re leaders in assistive listening technologies, pioneering innovations like audio-over-Wi-Fi and co-developing the first Auracast™ broadcast audio-based assistive listening system. Each customer and project is unique, and I love the opportunity to help venues and users overcome communication challenges. I feel like an advocate for the hard of hearing, delivering exceptional listening experiences to all.”
How has the industry evolved during your time at Listen?
“Technology has changed significantly, but there’s also growing awareness of hearing loss and its impact. Assistive listening systems (ALS) aren’t just for those with hearing impairments anymore. They’re now used for things like language interpretation, audio description, and for tours.
One story I like to share is about a university that was looking to upgrade its outdated ALS system. They used to keep their RF receivers hidden away in a closet, and very few people knew they existed. One professor decided to put the receivers on a table at the entrance of his classroom and make a simple announcement about them. The use skyrocketed from one student per semester to 5–10 students daily. It was a simple change that made a big difference. People are much more aware now, and with emerging technologies, ALS is more essential than ever.”
What advice would you give to someone considering a career in AV?
“Be humble and stay open to learning and change. Technology is always evolving, so no one will have all the answers. Embrace change and growth, and don’t be afraid to ask questions. I have plenty of stories about the early days of connecting cables using D-Sub terminal blocks!”
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
“Spending time with my family is my top priority. You’ll also find me watching sports, especially basketball, baseball, and tennis. And I love running—it’s not just for my health but also my therapy.”
